It’s finally snowing in Portland!
Well, at least, it snowed this week. Growing up where it doesn’t snow EVER, I can still find joy and novelty in scraping glittering ice off of my windshield with an expired credit card. The trees reveal all the fractals of their branches, the seasonally-affective-summer is kicked, and I can start drinking hot things again without sweating. Looking sexy while being properly layered is still a challenge, though.
This January, however, I’ll be escaping the cold for my very first tour, and heading to my sunny hometown of Los Angeles. My little holiday there will last a few weeks; I’ll be available January 10th to January 30th (and would love to meet up with fellow workers!). I’m more than thrilled at the prospect of rediscovering a place so near and dear to my heart – this time, as Audrey. I’m also looking forward to spending time in some nearby cities, so if you happen to fall anywhere between San Diego and San Luis Obispo, do reach out! The following are a few date ideas that I’d love to make a reality on my trip:
- A trip to LACMA and dinner in Little Ethiopia
- Record hunting, wherever
- Tea at the Museum of Jurassic Technology
- A day trip to Santa Barbara
- Monterey Jazz Festival on tour at Walt Disney Concert Hall
That being said, there’s still plenty to look forward to up here in Portland! If you’d like to see me before the year ends and I go out of town, check out my “To see me” page. In case you missed it: I’m now offering longer dates, limited incalls to folks I’ve seen before, and DMTY options for other PNW cities. Let’s get together. ✮

What I did this week
I had a lovely date at the Oregon Contemporary last weekend. The current exhibit, i gently place my brain in cold rice, features seven individual artists and one design collective. Curated by the folks at home school pdx, the show description reads,
“The first exhibition in home school’s residency at Oregon Contemporary, i gently place my brain in cold rice, presents works of sculpture, video, photography, and writing that orbit ideas around the tactile, the textile, the virtual, and the ritual. The eight artists in the show activate trans media spaces of inquiry and healing without resources to traditional disciplinary or medium boundaries”.
i gently place my brain in cold rice opened November 4, 2022, and runs until January 8, 2023.
Left : ÌSERÉ (2022) by Khadijat Yussuff. Materials used: Tufted acrylic yarn, electronics, wood, brass.
What I’m reading
The Wind Up Bird Chronicles is only the second of Haruki Murakami’s works that I’ve read, and the first of his magical realism writing. Though I’m only about a quarter of the way through its 611 pages, I’m already dreading reaching the end. The writing transforms potentially mundane scenes into enthralling ones, and there’s no shortage of unexpected turns. This copy was gifted to me as a favorite, something I take very seriously (and can definitely get behind, so far).
What I’m watching
My roommates and I held a little screening of Tár for our movie of the week. While I’m usually partial to Cate Blanchett playing a lesbian (see: Carol, 2015), I have to be honest: I found it really tedious (and a little galling) to sit through this movie. But, maybe I just need to be spoon fed still.
What I’m listening to
Albums:
An Untamed Sense Of Control – Roscoe Holcomb
Remnants of the Vessel – Faetooth
Songs:
Playgirl – Ladytron
SIMP – Full Tac, Lil Mariko, Rico Nasty
Fantasmas – Twin Tribes
